Job Overview

Akuntha is hiring experienced professionals for the position of Highly Skilled Fitter (Substation & Transmission Works). The candidate will be responsible for performing installation, maintenance, and repair activities across transformers, overhead lines, and substation equipment. This role requires deep technical expertise, hands-on field experience, and a strong understanding of substation and transmission line operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform installation, erection, and maintenance of transformers, overhead structures, and electrical equipment.
• Execute fire-fighting and HVWS system maintenance, DG set operations, and overhead conductor works in substations.
• Carry out erection and stringing works for substations and transmission lines, including climbing structures and conductors safely.
• Perform removal and reconnection of jumpers, replacement of clamps, and repairs of isolators/insulators in AIS/GIS substations.
• Assist in repair and maintenance of isolators, circuit breakers, CTs, bushings, and other fragile substation equipment.
• Handle unloading and loading of electrical materials and equipment in the switchyard with utmost care.
• Maintain the substation yard, including cleaning of trenches, drains, pits, and fire-fighting systems.
• Conduct grass removal, excavation, leakage repair, and backfilling as per site requirements.
• Execute all tasks assigned by the Site In-Charge to ensure efficient operation and maintenance of substations and connected transmission lines.

Eligibility Criteria

• Qualification: ITI or Diploma in Electrical or Mechanical discipline
• Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience in substation or transmission line works
• Skill Level: Highly Skilled Fitter

Skills & Competencies

• Proven expertise in transformer erection, overhead works, and equipment installation
• Strong knowledge of fire-fighting systems (HVWS), DG sets, and substation operations
• Ability to perform erection, stringing, and repair works safely at elevated heights
• Familiarity with isolator, circuit breaker, and substation component repairs
• Understanding of safety standards and procedures in high-voltage environments
• Physically fit and able to climb and work on conductors and substation structures
• Team-oriented, disciplined, and safety-conscious approach to field operations
